Bouquet garni

A bouquet garni is a bundle of fresh or dried herbs tied together with a green onion leaf or twine or placed in a muslin bag and then used to season soups, stews, casseroles and other dishes. Our favorite way to make them is to tie with a long piece of twine so the end can be attached to a pot handle or spoon for easy removal and the end of cooking.

The New York Times has a great video on the basics.
