What edibles to plant now, along with some events you might find intriguing:

Okra (seed, transplants if you can find them. Clemson Spineless is the heirloom gold standard, and burgundy works well here as well.)

Sweet potato (slips, you will probably have to grow your own – lots of resources to be Googled for how-tos)

Southern cowpeas (seed)

Tomatoes (seed, start indoors to transplant and be choosy about varieties or keep your established plants alive by keeping them in some shade)

Pumpkins (seed, be very selective about varieties in North Florida; not that many do well)
